November 09: BERKSHIRE HUNT's BAD BEHAVIOUR

In November monitors from the Reading were attacked after a fox was killed by the Vale of Aylesbury with Garth and South Berks Hunt. Neighbouring groups paid them a visit. As the law did nothing about hounds hunting it was time to revert to sabotage. Pics:

NOT OUR MOST RECENT BUT STILL OUR TOP NEWS STORY OF LAST SEASON.

22/11/08. Sabs save fox at Ledbury Hunt (Glocs) after hounds caught on film mauling it.

The fox was taken to a wildlife hospital and is going to make a full recovery. The police were informed and showed no interest.

This film shows that foxes do not die an instant death. It also shows that we really do save lives and that until the Hunting Act is tightened and enforced properly we need to be there FOR FOX SAKE!

There is no human right to inflict suffering on animals.

We'll leave them alone when they leave wildlife alone!

Like the majority of people in this country we believe that they should leave our wildlife alone. Like the majority we believe the Hunting Act should be enforced. Until the ban takes effect we will remain out in the fields.

Thank you to the support of the public. Without you we couldn't be out there saving lives.

Prior to the Hunting Act coming into force, or even being voted through in Parliament, the hunting fraternity claimed that up to 40,000 people signed a declaration to defy the law and face the consequences of any ensuing prosecution. If somebody publicly declares that they are going to set out to break the law, can you trust them when they claim that they don't intend to break it? Add to this the fact that since the Act came in, we have witnessed activity that is clearly hunting - although not always been able to gather the appropriate evidence. Read more about what has been happening in the round up page.

The camera never lies and also saves lives.

We desperately need lightweight digital video cameras that are easier to carry over difficult terrain, have better zoom capabilities and longer battery life. If you can donate any modern video equipment or can make a donation towards the purchase of new video cameras, please get in touch. The more cameras we have out in the field, the better protected the animals are.

The great news is that in some circumstances - like that described above - the presence of a camera is enough to save an animal's life! It is vital that we maintain a presence. We can only do this with your help. More....

What are bloodsports?

Sick individuals take pleasure from inflicting pain on animals for their amusement.  Foxes, Hares, Stags and Mink are hunted by people on horseback or on foot with packs of hounds - in defiance of the law.  Pheasants, Grouse and Partridge are reared in pens, to be shot for someone's pleasure.  Gamekeepers eradicate other animals that aren't destined for the shoot and therefore regarded as "vermin".  There are also activities such as badger baiting and dog fighting on the fringes of the bloodsports community.

WHAT IS SABS?

SABS is an organisation committed to the end of bloodsports in this country.  We operate in Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and Sussex.  To achieve this end we have utilised the traditional methods of consciousness raising, letter writing and demonstrating.  We will now use the Hunting Act as a tactic to finally bring hunts to an end. However, whilst there are loopholes in the law or hunters ignore the law, ANIMALS ARE BEING KILLED.

They can be stopped! SABS focuses its energies to STOP THE KILLING NOW.
