Maximum Rock N Roll:
UK hate-filled hardcore in the vein of SAWN OFF or EBOLA. The lyrics are uncompromisingly
political, a nice switch from what seems to have become the norm. Fast parts
switch to faster, and then slow ever-so-briefly to a deafening pace before rocketing
back to speed to pummel you. There are elements that will certainly appeal to
fans of SoCal heroes like LACK OF INTEREST and NO COMMENT, but I still think
UK when i hear this... the raspy vocals, the addresses for anarchist and animal
rights literature, and then a DOOM-esque guitar break. Kills (WN)
Suspect Device:
Whole In The Head are my friends so, I guess, they may be surprised to discover
that I think this record is fantastic. Ive always thought WITH are a great
live band, but they dont really play the sort of thing I like to listen
to at home, but this is different; ok so its still the brutal, punishing
hardcore punk that youd expect, but Ive never heard them sounding
better, the anger and power of these songs is stunning. With the mess that the
world is in right now I feel punk bands should be screaming and shouting about
it more often, and thats what you get from WITH; the songs may be short,
and the lyrics are to the point, so it helps that this record comes in a booklet
featuring all the lyrics as well as explanations and contact info to help you
make informed choices about how to live your life - theyre not preaching
so much as educating. Born Without Eyes and Get On Your Bike
are my current favourites. Also, this record is released by two great DIY labels,
which is another good reason to buy it.(Tony)
